CCTV drain surveys: what they show

Why would I need a camera survey? What does it tell me?

A CCTV survey feeds a small video camera through the drain to record its internal condition. It is used to:

Find the exact location and cause of a recurring or stubborn blockage
Identify cracks, displaced joints, root ingress or collapsed sections
Map the route of underground pipes
Provide a documented report, useful for insurance claims or before buying a property

A survey turns guesswork into a clear picture. If a drain blocks repeatedly, a survey usually reveals the underlying defect, such as a partial collapse or root intrusion, that a simple clearance cannot fix.

A home buyer’s drainage survey is worth considering before purchase, as drainage repairs can be costly and are easy to miss in a standard property survey.
