Emergency evening call-out for two blocked toilets in my flat (£1,200):

By the time I spoke with 24/7 Emergency Drainage it was almost evening time. I explained my situation: that I had no working toilets in my flat and desperately needed help.

My flat's two toilets were completely blocked (they share the same pipework) and after another plumber tried a drain snake earlier in the day and failed, I was panicking and thought I would have to go the night without any working toilet.

Luckily 24/7 Emergency Drainage had same day availability and an engineer arrived within 2 hours. He did a visual check of the toilet and afterwards his boss Aldo called me back with the quote.

He was transparent about the pricing- £1,200 (£300 for the labour if they failed to unclog the toilet).

He explained that the job would be very challenging, which is why it was priced as it was (our flat is on the 3rd floor and they would need a second person to help run the hydro-jet hose up through the bathroom window).

It was 7pm at this point, I had no other realistic options and decided to go ahead.

Aldo came down himself to assist the first engineer and they did a brilliant job running the hydro-jet hose all the way from the ground floor van up through my 3rd floor bathroom window. They cleared the stubborn blockage perfectly and the toilets work great now. They also explained that the clog was caused by "lots of tissues" which was useful to know.

If you ever find yourself completely desperate with zero other options in the evening, they are the absolute masters at getting the job done fast (even if you live in a tricky to access, 3rd floor flat like me). Just be aware that this level of emergency response comes at a very significant cost.

Overall, a big thank you to 24/7 Emergency Drainage for coming to the rescue. Very grateful!!!

Nice guy, and seemed to know his stuff. Price was exorbitant, however. £210 for maybe 25-30 mins’ work, with no cost for materials, and within regular hours, is absurd in my view. My own fault for failing to ascertain the price beforehand, I guess, but didn’t expect anything more than maybe £100-120. Feeling a little fleeced. Particularly now, only a few days later, when it transpires the blockage was not cleared properly. £210 was exorbitant . £210 for work improperly done is disgraceful.

He promised to come in 35minutes, turned up in 40, and get the job done in 15.

Fair honest man, highly recommended.
